Jenny Kearney: What have you been working on recently?

Thuy: The last meeting I had with Martha, I told her how grateful I am for the opportunity to design something for Waking Giants. It has definitely sparked an old flame. My most recent project is design work (poster, tote bag, & shirts) for a local band called Darkbird. The merch I created for them will be ready soon and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I love designing for them because Kelly, the lead singer, is a dear friend of mine and band projects are always fun!

JK: What work are you most proud of?

T: I am most proud of the work I've done for Waking Giants. I was in the graphic design world a few years ago, pumping out a lot of designs, but it all felt quite meaningless. After being fired, I felt like my work was awful and decided to stop designing. I actually haven't done much work since then. A project here and there, but nothing consistent.

JK: What has given you artistic inspiration as of late?

T: I'm not really a known artist in the community. I don't have a huge portfolio of work and my primary job is still a restaurant server. I am working on some personal projects, inspired by the work I've done for Waking Giants. I feel like the work that I've done for you guys actually has a voice and a purpose and I'm looking forward to creating more work that speaks volume. Darkbird has made me their only designer, so I am excited to do more band work for them in the future. I truly hope to work on more projects for you guys as well. I'm pumped and ready!
