The story of Passover is the story of the Jews’ exodus from Egypt. It is a story of slavery, struggle, and ultimately liberation and freedom, and this year all of those themes seem especially close to home as we are living under quarantine with our movement restricted during a real life plague. The theme for Passover Seder meals around the world is: why is this night different from other nights? This year, we ask ourselves, why is this year different from other years? This year the Passover themes seem especially close to home as we are living under quarantine with our movement restricted during a real life plague.
We are committed to meeting the needs of our community through the hosting a virtual Passover Seder Blessing on April 9th, 6-6:30 PM CST. Passover is a reflective, community based holiday rooted in the remembrance of social, economic, and political struggles overcome by the Jewish people. At its core, Passover is a holiday about family, community, and food. About who has it, who does not, and where we can each find our own agency when we feel powerless
In commitment to providing tools for our community members hosting their own Passover Seder this year, we are offering:
A virtual Passover Seder blessing on April 9th at 6-6:30 PM CST via zoom with Rabbi Lev Baesh of the Kol Halev congregation offering a reflective Seder blessing rooted in food as storytelling and freedom as connection.
A modern Haggadah we produced that speaks to what it is to live through a real life plague during this holiday when freedom is restricted and our anxiety about our health, communities feels like bondage.
We are very excited to be offering a hand stitched matzah cover by Fort Lonesome because we believe that art at our Seder is an important way to mark the power of transformation that it holds in our lives.
We've created a playlist to get us through our Passover Seder, this is especially useful for those of us who count on the musicians in our family to hold the tune for Dayenu who won't be joining us this year.
